Ruthless Records Co-Founder Jerry Heller Claims Eazy E Had Plans To Kill Suge Knight
Before he died from complications from AIDS in 1995, Eazy E had plans to kill rival record label owner Suge Knight, says Ruthless Records co-founder Jerry Heller. And, acccording to Heller, he “should have let him do it.” The former N.W.A. manager recently sat down with Prezident Bedja of The Murder Master Music Show where he recounted the day Eazy told him he wanted Knight offed.
“Eazy said, ‘You know this guy Suge Knight?’ I said, ‘Yeah.’ He says, ‘Well, I’m gonna kill him!’ He said, ‘This guy is gonna be a problem and I think I should kill him.’ I said, ‘Let me think this thing through. First of all, we’re doing $10 million a month with six employees. We don’t even have a typewriter in the office. We’re the most successful start-up record company in the history of the music business and you want to kill this guy? That just doesn’t make any sense to me.’”
Heller said in hindsight, he should have let Eazy go on with his plans. “I should have let him kill him, you know,” he added. “I would have done the world a favor. He would have done it for sure by himself. He always rolled by himself and he was fearless…I think that he was going to go do it. I took him seriously.”
Heller went on to say with Suge out of the way, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre would probably still be with Ruthless Records and the label would be one of the premiere imprints in the music business. Heller managed N.W.A during the group’s early years. According to Ice Cube, monetary disputes with Heller is one of the main reasons he left the group in 1989 to go solo.
