A South African pastor who once grabbed headlines after blasphemously claiming that Jesus Christ received the HIV virus has pulled yet another shocker.
In 2010 Pastor Xola Skosana sparked the controversy when he began to claim that Jesus had the HIV having received it while he carried the wooden cross of His death as he ‘bore' mankind's sickness and ultimate punishment.
From the time Jesus' own sweat became as thick as blood while praying in a garden, to the time He Himself even wondered why God had forsaken, Him, Jesus literally received into both His body and spirit all the curses, sicknesses, and punishment of all humanity.
"Wherever you open the scriptures Jesus puts himself in the shoes of people who experience brokenness. Isaiah 53, for example, clearly paints a picture of Jesus who takes upon himself the infirmities and the brokenness of humanity," he said.
Nearly 3 years later, controversial Pastor Skosana has claimed he is ashamed and embarrassed to be a South African man, My Zimbabwe can reveal. Without going deeper to explain what he meant, the pastor who has been man of the cloth for nearly 30 years said women and girls are not safe in the presence of South African men.
"South African women and young girls are not safe in the presence of South African men. It's an all out war, not subtle anymore. Whether a woman is black and poor or white and wealthy, she is in very great danger. Nothing will excuse or explain away the savagery displayed by men towards women and young girls in this country. I am ashamed and embarrassed to be a South African man," said Pastor Skosana, much to the surprise of fellow patriotic South Africans.
Responding to the pastor's utterances, one Piaba Madokwe said he would always support his fellow racial countrymen rather than being ashamed or embarrassed to be a South African.
"Come hell or high water, I will always defend my black brothers, I have nothing but MAD LOVE for them... rapists, murderers, thieves, addicts, alcoholics, dealers, monsters and all," Piaba Madokwe told Pastor Skosana.
The controversial 'man man of God' came to limelight in 2010 after delivering his sermon titled 'Jesus was HIV positive'.
Journalists from all walks of life and members of the Christian fraternity did not take the pastor's sermon lightly. As soon as word of the sermon got out, the complaints began to pour in. One pastor accused Skosana of "dragging Christ's name to the ground," which gives you an idea about what this minister thinks of people with AIDS.
However, explaining to BBC, Pastor Skosana who has since lost two sisters to Aids said religious leaders have to play a much bigger role in combating the spread of the pandemic in South Africa where more than 5.7 million people live with the virus – more than in any other country.
"Of course, there's no scientific evidence that Jesus had the HI virus in his bloodstream. The best gift we can give to people who are HIV-positive is to help de-stigmatise Aids and create an environment where they know God is not against them, he is not ashamed of them," he said.
