Biography:
Kendrick Lamar (born June 17, 1987) is a rapper from Compton, California and is a member of Black Hippy collective along with members Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and ScHoolboy Q. His music is largely influenced by the works of 2Pac, Jay-Z, Nas and DMX. Debuted in 2003 with the Youngest Head Nigga in Charge mixtape as K-Dot, it lead to his signing with TDE. He released the Kendrick Lamar EP in 2009, the critically acclaimed O(verly) D(edicated) mix tape in 2010, a 2011 digital album Section.80, released under Top Dawg Entertainment, and most recently good kid, m.A.A.d city on October 22, 2012. The Recipe Songfacts reports it was one of the cuts from O(verly) D(edicated), "Ignorance is Bliss," that initially interested fellow Compton native, Dr. Dre, in him. The young spitter worked with Dre on the latter's Detox album and the legendary Hip-Hop producer returned the favor by joining Lamar on "The Recipe". The song was premiered on the LA radio station Power 106's morning show on April 2, 2012.

Kanye West Finally Disses Ray J, It Was ‘Bound 2' Happen

We no longer have to wonder what Kanye West thinks of Ray J's Kim Kardashian diss "I Hit It First." West responded Monday when performing his song "Bound 2" during a surprise performance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon."
West altered the song's opening lyric to attack the R&B singer and reality TV star.
"Brandy's little sister lame and he know it now, when a real brother hold you down, you supposed to drown," West rapped.
West didn't mention Ray J by name, but there is no denying that the lyrics are about him. West instead chose to refer to the Ray J as the younger sibling of Grammy-winning singer and actress Brandy.
Though Ray J is commonly referred to as Brandy's little brother, West took another dig by calling him a girl, "Brandy's little sister."
The original lyric is, "All them other n-ggas lame and you know it now, when a n-gga hold you down, you supposed to drown."
Though Ray J had not responded via Twitter at press time, a few users came to his defense:

The feud must be awkward for Brandy. West produced her 2004 hit "Talk About Our Love," and rapped on the song and appeared in the video.

During West's recent interview on Kris Jenner's talk show, he said the first time he met Kim Kardashian was when she was working as Brandy's assistant.

Kardashian and Ray J dated in the past and appeared in the 2007 sextape "Kim K Superstar."

In June, West and Kardashian had a daughter, North West.

Aside from the slam on Ray J, West's performance that featured Charlie Wilson singing the chorus, a boys choir and The Roots as the backing band, was incredible. Wilson, who received BET's Lifetime Achievement Award in June, sounded perfect.

West has received some flack for wearing a leather skirt.

Last night, during a traffic stop prompted by an illegal U-Turn from the car he was in, police arrested DMX for possession of marijuana.
According to source, Greer County, South Carolina police claim they smelled marijuana on the Yonkers rapper, found marijuana on the arm rest and acquired three more bags of marijuana under the car’s floor board following a search. He would subsequently be jailed in Greer County and was released Wednesday under house arrest stemming from an arrest warrant issued for previous charges. WE also says X suffered a mild asthma attack during the series of events but was fine after paramedics responded to the scene.
DMX’s publicity team issued a statement to AllHipHop.com refuting claims that allege DMX was never shown the bags of marijuana retrieved from the vehicle.
DMX was driving in the passenger seat when the vehicle he was in was pulled over last night. Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle. Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. DMX was released this morning at approximately 11am EST and is back at his home in South Carolina.

Rapper’s Instagram Photos Lead To Biggest Gun Bust In New York City History

The New York Police Department had its biggest gun bust in the city’s history recently and it’s all tied to a Brooklyn rap hopeful who uploaded foolhardy photos to his Instagram account. They have since been removed.
According to the ’New York Daily News,’ rapper Neno Best (real name Matthew Best) was posting Instagram photos and YouTube videos alluding to his selling of firearms at his Ocean Hill studio. Upon seeing them, NYPD narcotics investigators sent undercover officers to the location, which led to the uncovering of a multi-state gun ring.
The ‘Daily News’ reports that two men, Walter Walker of Sanford, N.C., and Earl Campbell of Rock Hill, S.C., were running the weaponry up to New York, where they were being flipped for three times the price. In all, officers seized a total of 243 handguns, two shotguns, and nine rifles, which you can view at the ‘Daily News’ website.

In 2010: Drake is one of those special cases who didn’t fall under pressure and exceeded expectations. When the Toronto MC was coming up, he has been embraced by hip-hop heavyweights such as Lil Wayne, Clipse, and Bun B. 2009’s So Far Gone is still a major launching point for his career, dropping an endless array of hits from the tape including “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful.” Drizzy’s career highlights just kept stacking up during the road to his debut album release, Thank Me Later.
He sold 500,000 copies of the So Far Gone EP just off the popularity of his mixtape, and received two Grammy nominations from it that added to his hype. Then, the rising star went on to become a proven hitmaker with major posse cuts with Young Money (“Forever,” “Bedrock,” “Money To Blow”), before Thank Me Later even drops. All eyes and ears were on Aubrey, but it’s not like he had any worries.
Drake had one chance to impress on a commercial level and he delivered with Thank Me Later. Drizzy expressed that it was “a solid hip hop album,” with strong influences from Nas and Andre 3000 for certain moments. Fans gravitated towards the album for its ambient production and emotional vulnerability, similar to what Kanye West achieved in 808s & Heartbreak. At the same time, Drake showcased his versatility as an rap/R&B force in songs like “The Resistance” and “Find Your Love.” Lyrically, Drake held his own next to his idols (Jay-Z, Lil Wayne), as well as his contemporaries (Nicki Minaj, Young Jeezy.)
Like many anticipated releases, Drake suffered from an early leak before its June 15 street date. However, Drake still debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 447,000 copies in the first week. Moving past the strong sales numbers, music critics also commended Drake’s personal themes on the album that touched on his newfound fame and romances. Overall, Thank Me Later built the foundation for Drake’s atmospheric and introspective style that has grown into its own entity in hip-hop. It goes without saying that the album is widely regarded as his best solo effort. You can thank him now.

We don’t know if Ludacris had a “Helluva Night”, but, it was damn sure a wild one. A huge brawl broke out last night, while he was hosting a party at club Prive in Atlanta. The ATL rapper was reportedly circulating the club, mic in hand, when a melee broke loose with several people throwing and catching blows. Initial reports had Luda involved in the ruckus, with some saying he was jumped and others saying he or his girlfriend, Eudoxie was hit with a bottle. But, today, a scratch-less and bruise-less Luda posted three hilarious Vine videos (below) and a Instagram photo with the caption “This is what a bottle to the head looks like,” putting to rest rumors that he was stomped out.
